GENERAL SERVICES
There are a number of frequently requested services which comprise the typical, overarching surveys and deliverable a client may require ahead of planning or development. Dipper Ecology are highly experienced in providing such services

Preliminary Ecological Appraisals
Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA) provide important information concerning the ecological value of a site. Although used in a variety of contexts a PEA is often utilised as an initial assessment of the likely impacts of a project. Methods typically involve a desk-based study, a walkover survey, recommended mitigation measures, additional species surveys as required and suggested ecological enhancements.
Phase 1 Habitat Survey

An extensively employed classification of habitats by the UK Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) whereby habitats are allocated to a definite category with a standardised map produced.

Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys

An Extended Phase 1 habitat survey is a detailed assessment of the habitats present, species composition, structure, management and also considers their potential to support protected and notable species.
Ecological Impact Assessment

Also known as a EcIA this process helps quantify the potential effects from a proposed scheme on habitats or species within their ecological zone of influence. An EcIA can form the ecological deliverable of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
